Hidden Cove Kids Tri

Hidden Cove has been named one of the USAT South Midwest Regional Youth Championship Series races for 2012!  We look forward to seeing athletes from all over Texas and our neighboring regional states at this event!

Kids Age 6-10: 100 meter swim - 2 mile bike - 0.5 mile run

Kids Age 11-12: 200 meter swim - 4 mile bike (2 loop) - 1 mile run

Kids Age 13-15: 200 meter swim - 6 mile bike (3 loop) - 1 mile run

Pre-Race Clinic - $5.00

Saturday, May 5th - 2:00 PM at Hidden Cove Park (meet in parking lot)

Playtri's Lead Developmental Coach, Morgan Johnson, will join participants and their parents for a  pre-race clinic at the race site two weeks before race day.  Participants will get to ride and run the course, review the swim, practice transitioning quickly and easily, and of course parents and participants will all have the opportunity to ask lots of questions!  Hope to see you there!

Participants should bring bike, helmet, running shoes, and a water bottle.  Parents are also encouraged to bring bikes and helmets to join us in riding the course as an added safety measure for participants.

Playtri Race Ready Training Program

Introductory Meeting on April 14th at the Playtri Performance Center at 2:00 PM!

Is your athlete new to the sport of triathlon?  Make sure he or she has the best first-time experience possible with Playtri's "Race Ready" Program!  One month before the race, one of our USAT certified coaches will provide your child with an individual training plan, group practices and clinics, and individual advice on training and racing. 
Race registration is included in the price - look for the Race Ready option on Active.com!

USAT Membership

The Hidden Cove Kids Tri is a USAT sanctioned event. All youth participants must be a current annual member of USAT or purchase a one-day pass for $10 at packet pick up. Do not send USAT permit fee with entry fee.

All established USAT rules will be in effect and will be strictly enforced. You must show your USAT member card and your photo ID at packet pick up - no exceptions. Parents/Legal Guardians may pick up packets for their children and the child does not have to be there.

New USAT Youth Racing Rules for 2012

In addition to the 2011 USAT Youth Racing Rules, please review the following rules thoroughly and make sure your child is prepared for race day - all USA Triathlon rules WILL be enforced:

• No flotation devices may be used during the swim.
• No training wheels are allowed on the bicycle.
• Only standard drop, straight, or curved handlebars are allowed.  No aero
  or time trial bars may be attached to the bike or used during
  competition.
• No disk wheels or wheel covers are allowed.
• No time trial, “chrono,” or “aero” helmets with a tail may be used.

Awards/Amenities

All racers who are registered by May 1st are guaranteed to receive a t-shirt and goodie bag when they pick up their packet.

All finishers will receive a finisher’s medal when they cross the finish line.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Colony Fire Department.

Weather

Average temperature on race day: low 75 - high 95.

For safety reasons, Playtri Racing reserves the right to modify or cancel a race due to severe weather conditions. When severe weather is present, all precautions will be made to ensure the safety of the athletes.

Chip Timing by Run-Far 

This is a chip timed event. Each participant will be required to wear a timing chip in order to be counted in the results. Timing chips are assigned to participants according to bib number. Please pick up your timing chip the morning of the race at the chip timing station beginning an hour before race start. ALL TIMING CHIPS SHOULD BE RETURNED AFTER YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE. A $30.00 fee will be charged to the participant if the timing chip is not returned. Awards are based on chip times.
