Course

^

Half Iron Distance:  1.2 mile swim – 54 mile bike – 13.1 mile run

Aqua Bike:  1.2 mile swim – 54 mile bike

RBM International Distance:  1500 meter swim – 27 mile bike – 6.2 mile run

Transition will be open from 5:30am - 7:15am.

Course Notes: NO SWIMMING IN LAKE ALLOWED PRIOR TO RACE!!

Zoot SportsSwim course will be in an excellent spectator friendly lake
with viewing points from several areas.

Bike is on clean urban roads. The course is slightly hilly but fast. Each major intersection and turn around will be traffic controlled with directional assistance. The bike will be a 2 loop course for the Half Iron Distance and Aquabike. The bike course will be a 1 loop course for the RBM International Distance. There will be a total of 3 aid stations on the 27 mile bike loop so a total of 6 aid stations for the Half Iron Distance.

The run course is fairly flat and fast. Aid stations will be located approximately every 1 mile. Each aid station is equipped with water, Accelerade, ice and Accel gel.  The run will be 2 loops for the Half Iron Distance and 1 loop course for the RBM International Distance.

The course officially closes at 3:30pm for all participants.

Open Wave ^

The Half Iron and International Distance will have an Open Wave.  To register for the Open Wave, you should be a top ten overall finisher or top 3 age group finisher in a race of 400 or more athletes.  Only those athletes registered in the Open Wave are eligible for the $5,000 cash purse and the Zenith Wetsuits.

Pasta Party

^

Pasta Party from 5 – 7pm on Saturday, April 12th at the Irving Bible Church (Race Expo and packet pick up) located at 2435 Kinwest Pkwy. All Sunday participants of the Half Iron Distance, Aquabike and RBM International Distance will receive a wrist band that will serve as your entry to the pasta party when you pick up your packet. Additional tickets can be purchased for $15 when you register or for $20 at packet pick up.

 

 

USAT Membership

^

The Playtri Festival Half Ironman, Aquabike and RBM International Distance are USAT sanctioned events. All participants must be a current annual member of USAT or purchase a one day permit for $10 at packet pick up. Do not send USAT permit fee with entry fee.

All established USAT rules will be in effect and will be strictly enforced. You must show your USAT member card and your photo ID at packet pick up - no exceptions. Friends and family will not be allowed to pick up anyone's packet. ****New USAT rules: If you are an annual USAT member and do not bring your member card to packet pick up, you must buy a $10 one day membership. There are no more duplicate applications. USAT no longer allows the purchase of annual memberships at packet pick up.

Overall Male and Female and Masters Male and Female.

Age Group / Weight Class awards will be 3 deep for both Male and Female.

Relay Team awards will be for top 3 in each category (male, female, coed).

All racers who are registered by March 31st are guaranteed to receive a t-shirt and goodie bag when they pick up their packet. 

All finisher’s of the Half Iron Distance will receive a finisher’s medal and a finisher’s cool max t-shirt.

Weather / Water Temp

^

Average temperature on race day: low 70 - high 85.

Water temperature will most likely be wetsuit legal. USAT Wetsuit rules will apply – participants allowed to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit.

For safety reasons, Playtri reserves the right to modify or cancel a race due to severe weather conditions. When severe weather is present, all precautions will be made to ensure the safety of the athletes.

 

 

Chip Timing by Run-Far

^

This is a chip timed event. Each participant will be required to wear a timing chip in order to be counted in the results. Timing chips are assigned to participants according to bib number. Please pick up your timing chip the morning of the race at the chip timing station beginning an hour before race start. ALL TIMING CHIPS SHOULD BE RETURNED AFTER YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE. A $30.00 fee will be charged to the participant if the timing chip is not returned. Awards are based on chip times.
