Directions: I-75 to McKinney. Exit Virginia Parkway. Go WEST on Virginia Parkway for approximately 5 miles. The beach and tennis club will be on the left.

Course

• 6 - 10 yrs old:  50 meter swim in the beach pool – 3 mile bike – 0.5mi run
• 11 - 14 yrs old: 100 meter swim in the beach pool – 6 mile bike (2 loops) – 1mi run (2 loops)

Transition will be open from 6:30am – 8:00am.

Course Notes: The swim is in beach/pool area with lifeguards on duty (not in the lake where the adults swim on Sunday).

The bike is on nice concrete urban road with cones separating kids from cars along with police support. The course is slightly hilly, but fun!

The run course is on grass. There will be an aid station equipped with water and Powerade.

Playtri Race Ready Training Program

Introductory Meeting on August 25th, 2:00 PM at the Playtri Performance Center!

Is your athlete new to the sport of triathlon?  Make sure he or she has the best first-time experience possible with Playtri's "Race Ready" Program!  One month before the race, one of our USAT certified coaches will provide your child with an individual training plan, group practices and clinics, and individual advice on training and racing. 
Race registration is included in the price!

Review what to expect on race day, practice transitions and review the race course (bike and run on course).   Parents strongly encouraged to come prepared to join us on the bike course!

USAT Membership

Please note - USAT Youth Annual and One-Day fees have gone up in 2012!

The Kids Playtri Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event. All participants must be a current annual member of USAT or purchase a one-day pass for $10 at packet pick up. Participants will also have the option of purchasing an annual USAT Youth Membership for $15 at packet pickup.

Do not send USAT permit fee with paper entry fee.

All established USAT rules will be in effect and will be strictly enforced. You must show your child’s USAT member card and your photo ID at packet pick up - no exceptions. Parents or legal guardians may pick up children’s packet.  Child does not have to be with parent or legal guardian.   If your child is an annual USAT member and you do not bring the member card to packet pick up, you must buy a one-day pass for $10. No exceptions.

New USAT Youth Racing Rules for 2012

In addition to the 2011 USAT Youth Racing Rules, please review the following rules thoroughly and make sure your child is prepared for race day - all USA Triathlon rules WILL be enforced:

• No flotation devices may be used during the swim.
• No training wheels are allowed on the bicycle.
• Only standard drop, straight, or curved handlebars are allowed.  No aero
  or time trial bars may be attached to the bike or used during
  competition.
• No disk wheels or wheel covers are allowed.
• No time trial, “chrono,” or “aero” helmets with a tail may be used.

Awards and Amenities

All finisher’s will receive a finisher’s medal. All participants who pick up their packet will receive a goodie bag and t-shirt. Only those participants registered by September 1st are guaranteed to get their t-shirt size.

Weather 

Average temperature on race day: low 70 - high 85.

For safety reasons, Playtri reserves the right to modify or cancel a race due to severe weather conditions. When severe weather is present, all precautions will be made to ensure the safety of the athletes.

Chip Timing by Run-Far

This is a chip timed event. Each participant will be required to wear a timing chip in order to be counted in the results. Timing chips are assigned to participants according to bib number. Please pick up your timing chip the morning of the race at the chip timing station beginning an hour before race start. ALL TIMING CHIPS SHOULD BE RETURNED AFTER YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE. A $30.00 fee will be charged to the participant if the timing chip is not returned. Awards are based on chip times.
