Team Playtri Elite (Dallas & McKinney)
Connect to Our TeamUnify Teams Page
Team Playtri Elite was founded in April, 2012 by Head Coach Morgan Johnson in Dallas, TX. It began with six young athletes (with no draft-legal triathlon experience) who had a goal of completing the first F1 youth draft-legal triathlon to take place in the state of Texas, and within seven months grew to 11 members, four F1 finishes, one National Cup finish, and one Elite National Championship finish. Shortly after, the team partnered with the ATAC swim club team, led by legendary Dallas swim coach Chris MacCurdy to offer a unique integrated swim/triathlon program to interested athletes.
At the end of 2012, the team was the only USA Triathlon nationally ranked developmental team in the North Texas area, and in the beginning of 2013, it was awarded the prestigious USAT High Performance Team designation, currently held by only 25 teams throughout the United States.
Today, Team Playtri Elite athletes practice 4-7 times a week, learning and developing the skills, general fitness, speed, endurance, and personal character required to compete at an elite national level, as a part of the USAT Olympic pipeline programs.
