In 1999, Ahmed Zaher, founder of Playtri, attended his first triathlon as a spectator – Rivercities Triathlon in Shreverport, LA. He was so inspired that the next day, he quit smoking and started training for triathlon. He had a ton of questions and wanted to jump in right away. As an athlete who had been coached all his life, he immediately hired a coach. He would hire numerous coaches until he decided to become a coach with Troy Jacobson’s Triathlon Academy and would attend one of the first USATriathlon Coaching Certification courses. He fell in love with the sport, the knowledge, the learning and the racing and that is where Playtri was born. His passion for the sport and for coaching would lead him to meet his now wife and the President of our company, Staci Brode in 2002 at the Rivercities Triathlon in Shreveport, LA. Staci wanted a new coach and rumor had it Ahmed was one of the best in town. They would begin dating and working together in coaching and event production in 2004. In 2011, they would open their first Playtri store. Over the next 5 years, they would work to perfect the model that would enable them to help more and more people reach their health and fitness goals.
Ahmed is a former Egyptian Olympian in swimming, a mechanical engineer and a former Shell and Exxon franchisee. He is also an 8 time Hawaii Ironman Qualifier and Finisher, a 4 time 70.3 World Championship Qualifier and Finisher and has won a Bronze Medal in the M50-54 ITU Olympic Distance World Championship in 2014. He will tell you after his 5 beautiful boys, his biggest accomplishment is Playtri and the opportunity it has given him to help people live a healthy lifestyle.
Staci was a high school swimmer, with a Marketing and Business Honors degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She found triathlon in 2001 while looking for a way to get back in shape after she left college. She was working in sales for Johnson & Johnson when she decided to leave her job and follow her passion of triathlon and event production in 2004. Staci would join Ahmed and turn the passion they had into a business empire that’s success is built on hard work and dedication by both Ahmed and Staci. Setting an example for her two boys of living a healthy lifestyle, enjoying sports as an adult and working hard for something you believe in is what drivers her everyday.
Coaching and knowledge are the heart of the business. Educating athletes in every aspect of swim/bike/run is the passion that drives our approach and our mission. Offering brick and mortar stores with exceptional service, expansive selection and critical knowledge enable athletes from all backgrounds to have a place they can invest in their health and well being.
Our market is the triathlete, runner, cyclist, and general health enthusiast looking for a one stop shop for all their health needs. WHAT MARKETS ARE AVAILABLE?
Our initial plan is to concentrate on the state of Texas and surrounding states in 2017. Starting in 2018, we will expand outside of this area. It is important for us to be able to provide the best support possible to ensure a strong successful franchise system to our franchisees so we will carefully evaluate expansion plans as we grow.
WHAT ARE THE ROYALTY AND ADVERTISING FEES?
Franchisees can expect to pay a 5% royalty fee of gross sales. Franchisees will contribute up to 1% of gross sales to a National Advertising Fund as well as 2% for local store marketing activities. All fees, estimated initial investment costs, contracts, corporate financial statements, and other valuable information are included in the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).
DOES PLAYTRI OFFER FINANCING?
Playtri Franchising, LLC does offer financing. Franchisees who meet certain qualifications may have access to financing as outlined in the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).

Playtri has a dedicated team that offers ongoing email and phone support. We provide site selection assistance, classroom and in-store training that cover all aspects of running a retail store, training and support to help build a profitable business and an in-person brand launch. We are here to make sure Playtri’s opening in your market is a success.
WHAT SIZE IS A PLAYTRI RETAIL STORE?
The standard recommended store size is 2,500 to 4,000 sq. ft. There are numerous things to consider when choosing a location and size. Playtri will assist you with these decisions as part of the site selection process.
WHAT DOES PLAYTRI EXPECT FROM A FRANCHISEE?
Playtri is looking for franchisee’s that have a passion for helping people get healthy and are willing to work hard while following the system we have set forth.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO OPEN A PLAYTRI STORE?
The general timeline is approximately 6-8 months from the time the Franchise Agreement is signed to the grand opening. Different factors can affect this timeline.
