About MICHAEL
Coach Michael has been coaching for 15 years, and has been with Playtri since 2021. Currently, Michael is the Head Aquatics Coach at Reagan High School in San Antonio, where he has coached over 30 NISCA All-Americans and 7 6A UIL State Champions. In 2025, his girls team finished 4th in the state and his boys finished 10th in the State. Michael has been named District Coach of the Year 10 times, Region Coach of the Year 4 times, and was named the 2025 6A State Coach of the Year. Michael graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science and has his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration. As an athlete, Michael was an NCAA sprinter for 4 years with Texas State University, where he competed in the 100, 200, and long jump. Michael has been competing in triathlons since 2016 and has qualified for 6 USAT National Championships and 2 70.3 World Championships. Michael's experience as not only a competitive athlete, but as a head swim coach, allows him to help bring success to all levels of athlete, from first-time triathletes to World Championship hopefuls. Michael has coached athletes to 70.3 World Championship qualifications, USAT National Qualifications, first time triathletes, first time 70.3 and Ironman finishers, and personal bests in single sport races such as swimming and running events.
