Competitive category (experienced racers/team athletes/racing to improve time or place).
Finisher medals and podium awards will be given.
Recreational category (kids new to the sport, racing casually).

4-7 years old (recreational only)
Down the water slide + 20 yd swim - 1.4 mile bike - 0.5 mile run
** One chaperone per participant will be allowed in the transition during setup. No life jackets or goggles on the slide. Slide is optional. 4-7 year-olds are allowed to use training wheels on bikes. No parents in the pool during the event. No parents on the bike course during the event. 4-7 year-olds may be accompanied by one parent/ chaperone during the run portions of the event (run only, 4-7s only).
6-10 years old
Recreational: Slide + Lazy River + 20 yd swim - 2.4 mile bike – 0.5 mile run
Competitive: 50 yd swim - 2.4 mile bike – 0.5 mile run
11-15 years old
Recreational: 100 yd swim – 3.4 mile bike – 1 mile run
Competitive: 100 yd swim – 3.4 mile bike – 1 mile run
All finishers will receive a FINISHER MEDAL!

6:00am - 8:30am Late Packet Pickup (11-15 year-olds need to pick up packet before 7:30) *$20 cash fee per family for race morning packet pickup
6:00am - Transition Area opens for all athletes, body marking
7:40am - Pre-race brief in transition area for 11-15 year-olds
7:50am - Transition area closes for 11-15 year-olds ( 6-10 year-olds and 4-7 year-olds zones remain open
8:00am - Race begins for ages 11-15 (competitive followed by recreational)
8:40am - Pre-race brief in transition area for ages 6-10 8:50am - Transition area closes for 6-10 year-olds (4-7 year-olds zone remains open)
~9:00am OR when all 11-15 year-olds have started the run - Race begins for ages 6-10 (competitive followed by recreational).
~9:30am - Ages 11-15 awards (competitive only)
9:45am - Pre-race brief in transition area for ages 4-7
9:55am - Transition area closes for ages 4-7
~10:15am OR when all 6-10 year-olds have started the run - Race begins for ages 4-7

After Party! All athletes and families are invited to stay and play at The Cove indoor waterpark after the race. The Cove will be open to all race attendees (athletes and families/spectators/volunteers) at no cost until 12pm. Access to The Cove will be available as soon as our last 4-7 year-old swimmers finish their swim, at approximately 10:30am.
If your family would like to stay after 12pm, athletes can stay at no charge but will need to go to the front desk to get a wristband, and other family members and friends can stay too but will need to pay the admission fee.
Hurts Donuts will have a food truck onsite from 7:45am - 9:45am, and each athlete gets a free donut with their race bib! Donuts will also be available for purchase.
The Cove concession stand will be open starting at 8:45am with breakfast snack items.
Packet Pickup Dates & Locations
Packet pickup dates and specific times TBA, but expect packet pickup options during race week at various Playtri stores in DFW and the day before the race at the race site. Race day packet pickup is only available for an extra charge.
Pre-race Clinics
Race clinic specific dates and times TBA, but expect a free race clinic the day before the race at the race site, and plan on parent Q&A sessions at packet pickup locations race week.
Parking
Plenty of parking will be available, please follow onsite traffic control and event staff.
Course & Site
Transition Area
UPON ARRIVAL, please enter the transition area through the RUN OUT point.
Body Marking & Bike Check will be at this spot (see sitemap)
ONLY ONE CHAPERONE per participant allowed in the transition during setup.
When transition closes for competition to begin, only participants and race officials may enter transition. Finishers may not retrieve gear until all participants have finished the cycling portion and have begun the run.

About USA Triathlon
A USAT Annual Membership or a One-Day License is required to race. If you are not an annual member, you must purchase a one-day license to participate in a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. A one-day license also provides the athlete participant accident medical coverage while they are participating in a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event.
One-Day Licenses are purchased for a specific race, are transferable, are non-refundable.
Our registration system will allow the purchase of a One-Day License while registering for this race.

Awards
Cheetahs: 6-10 years Top boy and girl winner. 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group: 6-7, 8-10
Thunders: 11-15 years: Top boy and girl winner. 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group: 11-12, 13-15
All finishers will receive a FINISHER MEDAL!
Race Timing
The COMPETITIVE CATEGORY will be timed.
The RECREATIONAL CATEGORY will not be timed.
For TIMED category: Each participant will be required to wear a timing chip in order to be counted in the results. Timing chips are assigned to participants according to bib number. Please pick up your timing chip the morning of the race at the chip timing station beginning an hour before race start. Awards are based on chip times.
USAT “RACE AGE” POLICY
An athlete's age for any USAT sanctioned race will be his/her age as of Dec. 31 of the current race year. The age he/she is on 12/31 will determine his/her racing age group. If an athlete is due to "age-up" into the next group, it will happen at the beginning of the year, not after the athlete's birthday.
This action aligns regular U.S. age group racing with the method used by USA Triathlon for its National Rankings Program and its Grand Prix Series

No Refunds or transfers allowed.
This event follows the standard running industry policy: All entry fees are non-refundable. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a natural disaster or emergency or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. We reserve the right to change the details of the event without prior notice.
A considerable amount of work and planning goes into planning events like this one and we do so with the best intentions. Refunding entry fees based on changes of participants schedules is not feasible as permits and basic provisions must be ordered ahead of time. We appreciate your support and understanding, and we will continue to work hard to produce fun and safe events for your best experience.
